Ghana’s Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has won the first round of voting to determine the flagbearer for the governing New Patriotic Party.
Dr. Bawumia garnered close to 70% of the total votes beating nine other candidates including former trade minister, Alan Kyerematen and Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong.
Saturday’s election which recorded some disturbances, eliminated five candidates with the remaining five to contest in the final round on November 4 to determine the flagbearer for the governing party in the 2024 general elections.
