Ghana’ largest opposition political party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called for the Chief Justice, Justice Kwesi Anin-Yeboah, to step aside from his position over a $5million bribery allegation.
Justice Anin-Yeboah is alleged to have received a $5 million bribe to grant a favourable judgement in a legal dispute.
During a press conference on Tuesday, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, stated that the Chief Justice should also step aside to allow for fair investigations to be carried out.
He believes that the investigation may be compromised given the fact that the Chief Justice has authority to sanction judicial officers carrying out investigations.
