In Ghana, a private citizen has sued the National Communications Authority (NCA) and the telecommunications companies over the SIM card re-registration exercise.
Francis Kwarteng Arthur, a private lawyer, is praying the High Court to stop the collection of subscribers’ personal data for the re-registration exercise.
He is also seeking an interlocutory injunction to halt the process until the final determination of the case.
Apart from the NCA (1st Respondent), the other respondents include the Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (2nd Respondent), Stratcom PLC (3rd Respondent) and AirtelTigo Ghana Limited (4th Respondent).
