Civil Society Organizations in the energy sector in Ghana are challenging the country’s Attorney General’s claims of saving the country over 6 billion dollars after the Italian-Swiss oil and gas consortium, ENI and Vitol dragged the country to the International Arbitration Tribunal.
The International Arbitration Tribunal found the Unitisation directives of the government of Ghana wrongful in the Eni & Vitol case describing it as contrary to the country’s laws.
However Ghana’s Attorney in a statement in response to the ruling said his office had saved the country over 6 billion dollars which were being demanded in damages by the consortium.
