In Ghana, the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has blamed the high cost of some food items, especially in the country’s major cities on profiteering.
According to him, people go to the producing areas to purchase, for example, a basket of tomatoes for 17 dollars and then shoot the sales price up to around 46 dollars in the cities.
Ghana’s inflation rate currently stands at 29 percent with fuel blamed by many for the rise in prices, however the minister disagrees.
