Ghana’s Ministry of Health is collaborating with the mental health authority to cover mental health conditions under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The National Health Insurance Authority has to this end, requested data from the Mental Health Authority to enable it to conduct and determine the possibility of adding Mental Health Treatment to the NHIS Benefit Package.

This forms part of the government’s efforts to meet the  Universal Health Coverage (UHC) targets set by the World Health Organization WHO.

WADR’s Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson in Accra has the story.
