The Teachers Education Workers Union (TEWU), has declared a nationwide strike effective Wednesday, 5 January 2022 over the nonpayment of their professional development allowance.

TEWU has been in talks with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission since June 2019 on the review of the conditions of service for unionized staff of public universities.

At a news conference in Accra on Tuesday, General Secretary of TEWU, Mark DenkyiraKorankye, saidthe strike will only be called off if their demands are met.
