Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama has announced the country’s ambitious goal to become a donor to the Gavi Vaccine Alliance by 2030, following a $67 million investment in vaccines in recent years.
Speaking at the Global Health Summit in Brussels, organized by Gavi and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, President Mahama revealed that Ghana has already contributed $20 million this year toward its co-financing obligations. He emphasized the government’s commitment to sustaining vaccine access and strengthening national health systems.
Gavi is seeking to raise $9 billion between 2026 and 2030 to immunize 500 million children worldwide.
