Ghana’s Parliament has initiated the registration of elected Members of Parliament (MPs) for the ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic. According to a statement signed by Deputy Clerk Camillo Pwamang, the registration process includes both online and in-person components.
Online registration will be conducted through targeted messages sent via WhatsApp and email, while in-person registration is set to take place from Thursday, January 2, to Monday, January 6, 2025.
The statement also outlined key events, including the election and swearing-in of the Speaker and MPs-elect on January 6, 2025. On January 7, MPs will be transported to Independence Square, Accra, for the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect and Vice-President-elect.
This ninth Parliament is historic, as it will feature a Majority Caucus comprising two-thirds of the House, contrasting with the eighth Parliament, Ghana’s first-ever hung Parliament.
