In Ghana, the Head of the department of Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) Professor Emmanuel Kwesi Aning has revealed that Ghana's borders have become enablers for the smuggling of small arms for activities of violent extremists.
Speaking on the theme "Scourge of violent extremism in the sub-region: Threats to Ghana's security, stability and socio-economic development Professor Aning emphasized that fear-mongering and deliberate misrepresentation of facts and figures cannot help the fight against violent extremism.
