Cocoa carriers from the various warehouses of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) on Monday, continued their strike to demand better service conditions and increment in salary.

The nationwide strike started on Wednesday 5th January 2022 has had a significant impact on the haulage of the commodity, since the cocoa trucks cannot be loaded to the ports for export.

According to the workers who work under the Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC), there has been a freeze in a pay rise for the past five years without any explanation from their managers. CUE:

The workers however say that they are prepared to return to work if the 1 Ghana Cedi per bag they propose is given to them. Raymond Atanga is the spokesperson for the Kumasi Cocoa carriers.
