The Gambia’s Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission prepares to submit its report to President Adama Barrow following years of public hearings, discussions are taking place in the country and elsewhere to ensure accountability for the crimes that were committed during the regime of exiled former President Yahya Jammeh.
Various human rights groups and donors with interest in the matter are spearheading these discussions.
One such group is ANEKED, which carries out targeted advocacy to demand justice for victims and their families by engaging with elected officials, media, regional official bodies, fellow human rights activists and the public.
The organization convened a meeting on Tuesday here in Dakar to discuss accountability, the role of youth among other issues.
