GAMBIA: Ranks Among Africa’s Most Peaceful Nations in 2025 Global Peace Index

The Gambia is celebrating a major milestone in peace and stability. According to the 2025 Global Peace Index released by the Institute for Economics and Peace, the country has been ranked 4th most peaceful in Africa and 55th globally out of 163 countries.

The report highlights The Gambia’s low levels of conflict, strong community resilience, and relatively low militarization as major factors contributing to its improved peace standing.

Reacting to the news, the Ministry of Information described it as “a proud moment for The Gambia,” noting that the ranking reflects the collective commitment of Gambians to national unity and harmony.

Information Minister Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, who credited strategic governance reforms, inclusive dialogue, and grassroots peacebuilding efforts as key drivers of this achievement.
