The Gambian government has nominated Abubacar M. Tambadou for election as a judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 2026.
Tambadou, a former Attorney General and Justice Minister, currently serves as the Registrar of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT).
His nomination reflects Gambia’s growing influence in international legal affairs, with many seeing his expertise as a strong asset for the ICJ.
