Local sources in Burkina Faso say at least four people sustained gunshot wounds after French and Burkinabe forces tried to deter protesters who tried to block an army convoy.
Demonstrators tried to approach French army personnel on a strip of wasteland where spent the night, says a source in the town of Kaya north of Ouagadougou – the capital.
As Veronic Njie reports, the convoy was crossing through on its way from Cote D’Ivoire to Niger during the weekend.
