Five persons who were victims of human trafficking have been freed from their abductors by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Sokoto, North Western Nigeria.

Commandant of NSCDC in Sotoko State, Mohammed Sale, Dada said the victims arrived at Sokoto Central motor park from Lagos on their way to Ilela to cross the border to the Niger Republic before they were intercepted.

Preliminary investigation revealed they are from Lagos and intended to be trafficked to other countries through the porous land border.

The commandant said the victims will be handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons NAPTIP in Sokoto.
