There are fears of a fish shortage in Sierra Leone after the Industrial Vessel Fishermen threatened to suspend fishing activities if the government does not address their concerns surrounding their conditions of service.
According to the fishermen, their current salary can no longer cater for their needs, and comes at a time when the closed fidhing season is ongoing.
As Patrick Sallia reports from Freetown, the fishermen say they leave their families to work in the sea only to be paid 37 thousand Leones (please indicate the dollar equivalent) for a 24 hours and no extra facility or allowance.
