The European Union says it has taken note of the agreement reached on 4 October between the new de facto authorities of Burkina Faso and ECOWAS.

A statement by Joseph Borrell, head of EU delegation in West and Central Africa late Wednesday indicates that the Union notes in particular the commitment made by Captain Ibrahim Traoré to respect the agreement concluded on 3 July 2022 between the country and the regional organization, to allow a return to constitutional order before July 1, 2024.
