The Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS has imposed new sanctions against Mali’s transitional leaders.
The decision comes after the Malian authorities informed the organization that they would not be able to hold presidential and legislative elections in February.
The community convened an Extraordinary Summit on the political situations in the Republics of Guinea and Mali on Sunday, where leaders also demanded the immediate release of former Guinean President Alpha Condé.
Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson completes the story.
