The ECOWAS Court of Justice is calling on the regional bloc to sanction perpetrators of unconstitutional change of governments and their collaborators while ensuring citizens’ protection.

The court asked the community to amend the protocol on democracy and good governance and instruments to prevent tenure extension by political leaders.

It also requested the modification of the protocol to allow for judicial intervention in election matters.
