ECOWAS is organizing a workshop in Abuja, Nigeria, to review and enhance the Informal Trade Regularization Support Programme (ITRSP).
Bringing together representatives from ECOWAS, national focal points, and experts, the event focuses on funding and technical challenges in data collection. Dr. Seydou Sacko, speaking on behalf of Ms. Massandje TOURE-LITSE, stressed the importance of accurate data on informal cross-border trade for strategic policy decisions.
Yohanna K. Zacks highlighted the workshop’s role in improving national data collection efforts and sharing best practices across the region.
Launched in 2012, ITRSP aims to boost intra-regional trade and reduce poverty by enhancing data reliability, strengthening institutional capacities, initiating necessary reforms, and encouraging formalization of the informal sector.
