ECOWAS has validated the route for the Praia-Dakar-Abidjan highway, a key project under the Trans-African Highway (TAH7) linking Cape Verde to Lagos, with future extensions to Central and Eastern Africa.
Spanning 3,164 km, including a 600 km maritime link, the highway will connect eight West African countries, boosting trade and regional integration. The corridor aims to ease the movement of people and goods, cut transport costs, and enhance economic growth.
The project also includes maritime transport services between Praia, Dakar, Banjul, and Bissau. It aligns with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to improve market access and regional competitiveness.
Once completed, the Praia-Dakar-Abidjan corridor will transform connectivity, facilitating faster trade and development across West Africa.
