Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of Congo and their partners are responding to a new laboratory confirmed case of Ebola virus disease.

The case was detected in Butsili Health Area, Beni Health Zone in North Kivu Province, according to a statement from the World Health Organization.

The confirmation of the new case comes months after a previous outbreak that affected North Kivu Province was declared over on 3 May 2021.
