The Nigerien ministry of interior said at least two persons died during a weekend protest in Tera in the Tillaberi region.

According to the statement, youths from Tera went out on Saturday morning to block a French army convoy that was trying to reach Mali. 

Besides the deaths, several other demonstrators sustained injuries.
