The World Health Organization says with the colder weather approaching in the northern hemisphere, there would likely be an increase in hospitalizations and deaths from the covid19 pandemic in the coming months.

According to the UN health agency, vaccination coverage among the most at-risk people remains too low, especially in low-income countries while in high-income countries, 30 percent of health workers and 20 percent of older people remain unvaccinated.

Speaking at a virtual media briefing Wednesday, the WHO Chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said these vaccination gaps pose a risk to all.

Meanwhile, countries across the world continue to record an increase in cases of the monkeypox virus.
