Cote d’Ivoire’s electoral commission has announced that the country’s ruling party has won an absolute majority in parliament. The announcement comes days after the parliamentary vote.
The weekends vote also comes just months after President Alhassane Ouattara won a third term in an election marred by civil unrest and killed dozens of people.
The parliamentary election however passed off peacefully, in a sign of hope that the West African country can emerge from recent violence.
On Tuesday, the electoral commission announced that President Ouattara's RHDP party had won 137 seats of 255 in the National Assembly.
Journalist François M'BRA II has been speaking to WADR’s Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson about the reactions to the outcome of the result and what it means.
