In Côte d’Ivoire, Public Prosecutor Koné Braman Oumar has provided further details on the sentencing of two opposition PPA-CI executives, Damana Pickass and Koua Justin, who received 10-year prison terms for “Attack on National Defence.”
At a press conference, Oumar emphasized that Pickass was not prosecuted for his political affiliations. However, his lawyers have vowed to appeal the verdict, while former President Laurent Gbagbo claims the ruling is politically motivated.
This development comes as Côte d’Ivoire prepares for its presidential election in October 2025.
