Côte d’Ivoire has announced a 7,000 FCFA reduction in the price of a ton of cement, addressing rising living costs.
This price cut, formalized through a December 26, 2024 interministerial decree, was signed by Commerce and Industry Minister Souleymane Diarrassouba and Finance Minister Adama Coulibaly. The new rates are now effective nationwide.
Consumer associations have expressed mixed reactions, welcoming the relief but urging authorities to monitor compliance with the new pricing to avoid exploitation by distributors.
