In Cote d’Ivoire, a new president of the national assembly has been chosen.
Adama Bigtogo was approached and supported by the Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara and was elected president of the assembly by an overwhelming majority on Tuesday evening by the deputies.
He came out on top with 237 votes representing 97 percent of the votes against six votes or percent for his challenger Jean Michel Amankou.
Bigtogo, a close associate of President Ouattara, succeeds Amadou Soumahoro who died one month ago after suffering from an undisclosed illness.
The new President assembly has promised an overhaul of the institutions working structures.
