Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara has named a top cabinet official nearly a week after the previous cabinet headed by PM Patrick Achi resigned.
During an address on Tuesday, President Ouattara announced the appointment of Tiemoko Meyliet Kone, governor of the West African central bank, as his vice president.
Kone described as an outstanding technocrat and brilliant economist was appointed to be a position that has been vacant since 2020.
Speculations are however rife, that the Ivorian head of state may have in mind as a potential successor.
Take a listen to Ouattara.
