Good governance and accountability are key pillars of public trust and confident, as well as an effective functioning of governments.
In governance, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and in the best interest of national priorities are essential for promoting transparency, enhancing service delivery, and safeguarding democracy.
At the center of this process lies the role of various government institutions whose independent oversights play a critical role in ensuring that public institutions operate with integrity and are responsive to the need of citizens with respect to rule of law and fundamental human rights.
However, accountability among many African governments particularly in the subregion, has become an expensive luxury commodity, as these leaders become fanciful with corruption and state looting. These, however become their new life style and in extreme cases use state security apparatus to gag and threaten citizens right seeking for accountability and transparency.
In this edition of citizens hour, we focus the conversation on good governance and accountability- the key pillars of transparency.
Our guests, Selorm Dramani Dzramado, convener of Justice for Ghana and founder of Ghana Action Network and Dr. Faya Millimono, the leaders of Liberal Bloc party in Guinea extensively shared their experiences and the realities of good governance and accountability in their respective countries.
