Authorities have yet to comment on the recent attack targeting an army intervention unit in the Boucle du Mouhoun region.
Last Thursday, a unit from the Rapid Action Group for Surveillance and Intervention (GARSI) was ambushed near the town of Tougan.
Fourteen gendarmes were killed, and around fifteen others were injured.
According to a security source, the Burkinabè army managed to neutralize several of the assailants.
As a reminder, GARSI is a Burkinabè army unit primarily tasked with combating terrorism and organized crime in border areas
