Burkina Faso’s transitional authorities have released eleven Nigerian Air Force pilots and crew members, nine days after they were detained in the country.
The release took place on Wednesday evening following high-level diplomatic talks in Ouagadougou between Burkinabè officials and a Nigerian delegation led by Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, including a meeting with transitional President Ibrahim Traoré.
During the discussions, the Nigerian delegation expressed regret over an incident involving a Nigerian military aircraft that made an emergency landing in Burkinabè airspace without prior authorization.
Both sides emphasized dialogue and diplomacy, underscoring regional cooperation and the importance of maintaining strong bilateral relations between Burkina Faso and Nigeria.
