An unprecedented meeting this Wednesday morning at the presidential palace in Cotonou.

 Patrice Talon and his predecessor and main opponent, Boni Yayi, will talk to each other.

The former president who had left Benin since last April on the eve of the presidential election returned only a few weeks ago.

The last face-to-face meeting between Patrice Talon and Boni Yayi took place in 2016 in Abidjan, under the mediation of Presidents Alassane Ouattarra and Faure Gnassingbé.

This meeting was held at a time when several opponents were behind bars.

Arrested for several months, they were accused of involvement in the violence recorded in the run-up to last April's presidential election.
