The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights while countering terrorism, Ben Saul, has visited Benin to examine the detention conditions of individuals charged with terrorism.
In his preliminary observations, he shared key findings from his visit to the Akpro-Missérété Civil Prison, where the majority of defendants prosecuted by the Court for the Suppression of Economic Offenses and Terrorism (CRIET) are held.
