The Sports Minister of Benin Oswald Homeky has resigned.
This was announced Friday by the Spokesperson of the Beninese government Wilfried Léandre Houngbédji in a press release.
Without specifying reasons for his resignation, the government spokesperson stated that he would be replaced by the Minister of Energy, Water and Mines as an interim.
Allegedly, most public concerns trace this resignation as an effect of public support for Olivier Boko, a businessman who intends to contest the presidency in 2026.
According to media reports, many Beninese and loyalists of Boko, a long-time partner and ally of President Talon, have that he runs as a candidate in the next presidential election as Talon completes his second and last five-year term in 2026
Oswald Homesky served for seven years in Talon’s government before his resignation
