The Pan African organization, the African Union AU has said that the recent surge in military coups has dented the continent’s democratic transitions and achievements.

Speaking Wednesday, the AU Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat these coups have also affected Africa’s global reputation.

Despite the expansion of peace and constitutionalism in Africa, Mahamat said that the multiplication of coups was of serious concern that has threatened the democratic transition of the continent that also suffers from terrorism in the Sahel region.
