The World Health Organization has said after a year of fighting the coronavirus that has resulted in more than 106,000 deaths, the arrival of vaccines through the COVAX Facility – marks a turning point in the response.
Yesterday, Thursday, marked exactly a year, since the health agency declared covid19 a pandemic, exceeding its highest health emergency protocol.
While vaccines roll out across the world including Africa is underway, WHO’s regional director for Africa – Dr. MatshidisoMoeti says, the continent is expected to surpass 4 million COVID-19 in the weeks.
Calling for the prioritization of health workers in the vaccination campaign, the agency also briefed on the gains recorded in the administration of the Ebola vaccines in Guinea and the Republic of Congo.
