The World Health Organization (WHO), says the death toll from the covid19 pandemic in Africa is expected to fall by nearly 94 percent by end of the year.
The WHO Africa regional office citing the analysis, published this week in the scientific journal, finds that while the region reported over one hundred and thirteen thousand deaths, about one in three deaths were missed and the true number of deaths was 350,000 in 2021.
If the current variants and transmission dynamics remain constant, the modeling suggests that around 23,000 deaths are expected by the end of 2022.
