Fourteen (14) African heads of state are expected in Abidjan today, for a high-level meeting on the 20th Replenishment of the International Development Association's resources (IDA-20).
According to a note from the Ivorian presidency, this reconstitution, aims to support a strong recovery following the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and to help the African continent continue its economic transformation.
IDA, an institution of the World Bank Group, is one of the most important sources of financing to fight extreme poverty in the world's lowest income countries. It provides zero or low interest loans and grants to these countries.
The aim of this financial mechanism is to stimulate economic growth, build resilience and improve the lives of the world's poor. Since 1960, IDA has provided approximately US $ 422 billion for investments in 114 countries.
