Top military leaders from the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) have gathered in Ouagadougou for the third high-level meeting aimed at strengthening regional counter-terrorism efforts.
The two-day session, which began on Tuesday, focuses on pooling resources, enhancing coordination, and operationalizing a joint military force to combat growing insecurity in the region.
This latest meeting follows previous consultations held in Bamako and Niamey in 2024, marking continued collaboration among Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger.
As extremist attacks persist across the Sahel, the AES alliance seeks to develop a unified and more effective military response.
