Access to information campaigners and other stakeholders in the sub-region say a restrained access to information is a serious challenge.

They say despite many countries in the region signing up to conventions on access to information, it is particularly difficult for citizens to access information from their government.

The campaigners made the observation during a virtual session Thursday, organized by the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, whose programmes manager is Esther Ahulu.
