Ghana’s Interior Ministry has confirmed the removal of a rival chief from the Bawku Township, following recommendations from the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II-led mediation process.
According to the ministry, the Ghana Armed Forces carried out the removal of Alhaji Seidu Abagr on Wednesday as part of efforts to restore stability in the conflict-prone area.
Authorities explained that the action aligns fully with the outcomes of the mediation aimed at resolving the long-standing Bawku chieftaincy dispute.
The mediation report, which outlines key steps toward lasting peace, was formally presented to President John Mahama at the Jubilee House on December 16.
