In West Africa, women represent up to 70% of the agricultural labour force and have a crucial role in all steps of the food system from production to transformation, markets, access and consumption. Women however have limited access to financial resources, services and market opportunities, and the roles and contributions of women and girls are not accounted for. In this episode of 50/50, host, Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson discusses the situation in parts of rural Ghana, finds out more about SOORETUL, a digital start-up in Senegal and hears from the World Food Program about what is being done to bridge the gap.
