The 2021 African Economic conference with the theme Financing Africa’s post Covid19 development is underway in Cape Verde.

The African Development Bank, the Economic Commission for Africa, and the United Nations Development Programme jointly organize the 3-day event that began Thursday.

Considering the multidimensional impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Africa’s development, this year’s conference brings together stakeholders, including policymakers, the private sector, and researchers, to examine ways and means to expand Africa’s development finance sources sustainably.

During the discussions, experts hope to find innovative financing solutions, in order to save the continent from the COVID-19 crisis with a real loss of more than a decade of efforts to strengthen its economy and human capital.

Speaking at the opening ceremony via video link was Achim Steiner, administrator of the United Nations Development Programme.
