There have been contrasting reactions from the two leading political parties in Ghana to the announcement by public policy think tank Institute for Economic Affairs (IEA) to hold presidential debates in October and November 2024.
According to the IEA, the debate will provide candidates the opportunity to articulate their policies and point out their weaknesses in the policies and programmes of their opponent.
Whereas the governing New Patriotic Party, (NPP) has welcomed the initiative, opposition National Democratic Congress, (NDC) is averse to the debate stating emphatically that the party’s flagbearer will not participate in any of the debates
