Groups slam suspension of rights violations proceedings against Mali and Guinea

Four human rights organizations say the suspension of proceedings for human rights violations in Mali and Guinea before the Court of Justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is preventing victims from obtaining justice and reparation.

Lawyers Without Borders Canada, the Malian association for human rights, the International Federation for Human Rights and Amnesty International expressed concern about the consequences on the ongoing judicial proceedings.

The proceedings are also impacted by the sanctions taken by ECOWAS against Mali and Guinea following the recent coups d'état in these two countries.
