The International Criminal Court says it is not deterred by threats from the United States over it efforts to investigate alleged war crimes committed in Afghanistan by U.S. troops.

On Monday, President Trump’s national Security adviser, John Bolton, threatened sanctions against ICC judges if they proceeded with an investigation into alleged war crimes committed by American forces in Afghanistan.

But speaking to WADR’s Sankulleh Janko on the line from The Hague, spokesman of the ICC, Fahdi El Abdallah, said that the court is an independent and impartial judicial institution crucial for ensuring accountability for the gravest crimes under international law.
