Since last year August, activists and opposition parties have led marches in the capital, Lome, and other major cities across the country, calling for a constitutional reform and the resignation of President Faure Gnassingbe.
Scores of people have been killed and hundreds others arrested.
The sub-regional bloc, ECOWAS has intervened and a mediating team lead Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo is expected in the country next week Monday to begin talks between the opposition and the government aimed at ending the growing crisis.
