The goal of the conference is to pressure African governments to revise tax incentives granted to foreign companies.
Tax incentives are often given to companies to motivate them to invest in key sectors of the economy, with the hope of benefiting the country in the long run.
However, major foreign companies have been given tax incentives that run for years, denying States revenues for development.
